Local Liquor Store Owner Accused Of Drunkenly Trashing His Own Store

A liquor store owner is accused of getting drunk and trashing his own store.

Police were called Sunday to Coda’s Liquor on South Third Street. Officers say they found Richard Coda behind the counter with his shirt off, acting irate, slurring his speech, and smelling of alcohol.

They say he had broken several bottles and damaged other items in the store.

He was taken to detox, and once at the hospital, police say a nurse refused to treat Coda because of his behavior, telling 0fficers she was afraid.

Coda is charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
