Memphis police say a man has been charged after a deadly crash along Quince Road Thursday evening. Jamal Saulsberry is charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, and aggravated assault.
The crash happened about 6:50 p.m. in the 6400 block of Quince Road. Saulsberry told officers he was westbound when he swerved to avoid a car in front of him, and crashed into another car that was turning left across his path.
A witness told officers that Saulsberry was speeding when he passed and hit the other car. A 64-year-old woman who was driving that other car and her 61-year-old male passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The man later died at the hospital.
Officers say Saulsberry’s car had a strong odor of marijuana, and they found a small baggie of pot, as well as loose marijuana around the console of the car.
