The man accused of stabbing another man in the chest outside Young Avenue Deli in Cooper-Young is now behind bars, charged with attempted murder.
Jason Underwood was arrested Tuesday evening and booked on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
According to the police affidavit, officers were called to the restaurant about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. A witness told investigators the victim had gotten into an altercation with Underwood inside the bar. They say Underwood walked outside, and when the victim walked out several minutes later, Underwood ran toward him and begin punching him. Investigators say at some point during the fight, the victim was stabbed in the chest, just below his heart.
The victim was taken to Regional One, where he is now listed as non-critical.
Bond has not been set for Underwood. He is due in court Thursday.
