Memphis police say they have arrested and charged a man with robbing and sexually assaulting a woman in Hickory Hill. And they are hoping others will come forward to determine if he may be responsible for similar recent crimes.

Police say Deairo Shaw, 26, is charged with aggravated rape, aggravated robbery, and aggravated kidnapping.

Investigators say about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, Shaw robbed a woman at gunpoint in the 3200 block of Old Brompton Circle. They say he then forced her to walk to a secluded area, where he sexually assaulted her before running away.

Shaw was arrested by about noon that day, and booked on the charges for the attack, as well as an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic assault.

Police say Shaw lived in the same apartment complex where the rape occurred.

Detectives are looking into similar crimes in days before this attack to determine if Shaw may be responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
