MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – It took six years, but Monday the man caught on camera killing a pawnshop owner was sentenced to life in prison.
Charles Griffen was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Virak Hean. Griffin confessed to shooting Hean twice in the chest, stepping over his body, and then robbing the store.
The suspected getaway driver, Christopher Woodland, has not had a trial yet, but prosecutors accuse him of sharing the money from the murder and destroying critical evidence, including burning the getaway vehicle.
The trial was delayed for so long due to unspecified legal issues.
