MEMPHIS, TENN (localmemphis.com) - A prominent Memphis attorney is now on the other side of the law. Art Horne went before a judge Thursday morning on aggravated rape and assault charges.
When The Local I-Team's Jeni Diprizio asked Horne "What do you have to say about the charges?"
Horne replied, "You will have to talk to my lawyer."
According to this court record, Horne's ex-girlfriend says she and Horne were in a verbal argument Tuesday night that turned physical. She says Horne punched her in the face, strangled and then raped her at her home in east Memphis.
Horne's lawyer, Bill Massey, had this to say: "Art Horne is a strong man and he is not accustomed to the feeling of being vulnerable and it's terrifying on so many levels.”.
This isn't the first time Horne has been at the center of a domestic situation.
In 2015, a different ex- girlfriend, Sherrie Daly, was arrested after Horne said she broke into his house and attacked him with a golf club.
The woman who filed rape allegations against Horne this week was at Horne's home during the 2015 incident.
When asked if Horne and his accuser have had any previous domestic issues, "I don't know anything about this person or art's personal past. I know that he is a fine lawyer and a good man," said Massey.
Horne is out of jail on a $75,000 and he's wearing an ankle monitor. He is due back in court March 28th.
