MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - A Memphis firefighter is recovering after being hurt in a house fire Friday.
Memphis Fire Department responded to call on Maple Ridge Road, near Bartlett Road and Raleigh Lagrange in northeast Memphis.
It took fire crews an hour to get the fire under control.
The firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion and received second degree burns to the neck.
No one else was injured.
Authorities said the fire started while the home owner was welding pipes on an outside wall.
The home did not have a working smoke alarm.
