MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis is preparing to host the World Golf Championships – FedEx St. Jude Invitational, which begins July 25.
The tournament at TPC Southwind features the hottest field Memphis has seen: 47 of the top 50 players in the world have committed to play, including the top four: Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Rory Mcillory, and Justin Rose.
Tiger Woods has until Friday afternoon to decide if he’ll play in Memphis for the first time.
With or without Tiger, this World Golf Championship is going to be next level.
The experience is getting a serious upgrade. They’ve added covered bleachers on four holes to provide extra shade in the heat. There are new food options including The Pit which will feature four Memphis barbecue joints.
Also new: free wifi, onsite parking is available for purchase, or there’s free parking at May Park, which is just a short shuttle ride away.
It’s expected to have a $20-$60 million impact to the Memphis-area economy.
