MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Dozens of people working together, getting to the root of homelessness in Memphis in hopes of changing countless lives.
Tuesday night a panel of experts addressed the problem head-on. They include leaders with the Memphis Housing and Development project, MIFA, and clergy.
The group is not only shining a light on the challenges and causes of chronic homelessness, but also finding solutions.
The city of Memphis is also doing its part. Officials are preparing to open a plaza in the parking area behind the vacant city of Memphis inspection station on Washington Street downtown. It will give the homeless resources and allow them to work with volunteers to get them off the street.
