MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis City leaders broke ground Friday on a new fire station that will serve Whitehaven. Construction on Fire Station 43 is expected to take about a year.

When it is complete, the two-story facility will have an extra multi-purpose room that can be used for training and community meetings.

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said the fire station is just of many new facilities being built in neighborhoods across Memphis.
