A Memphis man was indicted Thursday in a drunken-driving crash that killed a 56-year-old pedestrian who was crossing Highland near Faxon in 2015, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Thursday.
The driver, Andre Hill, 50, was indicted on vehicular homicide, DUI, driving on a cancelled, revoked or suspended license, reckless driving and financial responsibility (no insurance.)
Investigators said Michael Yarbrough was struck, run over and killed as he tried to cross Highland around 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 12, 2015. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hill’s BAC was measured at .176, twice the limit for intoxication. The victim also was intoxicated, according to investigators.
Hill also had three prior offenses involving driving while his license was cancelled, revoked or suspended.
The case is being handled by the DA’s DUI Prosecution Unit.
