Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland is set to deliver his State of the City address Thursday. It’s expected to begin about noon.
The city’s tight-lipped about what the Mayor’s expected to talk about during the speech in Frayser. Some major talking points come to mind that we know Mayor Strickland will have to touch on at some point.
Last year, the city of Memphis saw a record number of homicides: 228 in 2016, a 42% increase from 2015’s total of 161 homicides.
People left and right had something to say about it, many wanting solutions to the city’s crime problem. Just this week, we told you about Mayor Strickland getting a lot of emails from concerned residents about this very issue.
Mayor Strickland said he hears the concerns of the people, and says reducing the crime rate is going to take some time.
Mayor Strickland will give his state of the city address Thursday around noon at the Frayser Exchange Club.
