Memphis police are investigating after two people were shot at different times at the same apartment complex overnight.

The first happened about 12:20 a.m. Thursday at the Highland Meadows apartments at Wilson and Airways near the airport.

A man said he was trying to jump a fence into the complex when he heard two gun shots. He said he felt a pain in his leg and found he had been shot in the calf. He flagged down a passerby who called police.

The victim was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition. Officers say they checked the area but were unable to locate a crime scene or a suspect.

About 30 minutes later, another man told police he was walking through the complex when he heard a shot and felt his leg start to burn. He told officers he did not see anyone or have any idea who would shoot him. He was also taken to Regional One in non-critical condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
