The first home game for Memphis Tiger football this season is Saturday at the Liberty Bowl. It’s a big game, as it sets the tone for the season right here in the Bluff City.
The game is themed “Salute to the 901” and there are tickets available at 35 local Kroger stores. The price is only $9.01. A dollar from each ticket sold will go to the Mid-South Food Bank.
The big thing the Tiger Athletic Department wants to stress is actually coming out to the game and filling up the seats. They say fan support plays a key role in winning games.
“Definitely excited. They are playing against a decent team, Mercer. I feel like this year they have a pretty good schedule. I feel like they can win 11 of the 12 games they have this year,” says Tiger fan Stanley Smith.
The Tiger Walk will begin at 3:30 p.m. and kickoff begins at 6:00 p.m. If you can’t make it out, the game will be televised on ESPN3.
