A Memphis woman is out on bond after being charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, accused of kicking a dog so hard it had to be euthanized.

According to the police affidavit, Aungelique Smith was arrested Sunday after taking her Pomeranian to the Animal Hospital on Central Avenue. Police say the dog was having seizures from a head trauma and had to be euthanized. The veterinarian had called police, concerned it was a case of animal cruelty.

Investigators say while talking to officers who responded to the clinic, Smith admitted to being upset, then kicking the dog when she saw it peeing in a hallway. Police say later in a written statement, Smith admitted to kicking the dog, causing its head to hit a wall.

Smith is currently out of jail on $1,500.
