Memphis Zoo honors first responders during the month of August

Local News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – It’s First Responders Appreciation Month at the Memphis Zoo.

Through August, all first responders will get free admission when they show their badge. Also, they can get half off admission for up to 5 guests. The promotion applies to all first responders, regardless of residency or employer location.

During an event to announce the promotion, a special plaque was given to Memphis Police Director Mike Rallings. Rallings was just named Tennessee Police Chief of the Year. He told Local 24 he’s proud and couldn’t have done it without a lot of help.

“I was talking to the officers earlier today at the academy, and there were room for 3,000 employees. They’d put it on here, but they could only put one name, but this really is for the women and men of MPD,” Rallings said.

Regular fees still apply to parking, food, and rides at the zoo.
