Man found dead in Mississippi River near Tom Lee Park identified

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis Police say the man whose body was found in the Mississippi River near Tom Lee Park last week has been identified as Ronald Ponce.

Ponce’s body was found Monday, August 12th, about 6:00 p.m.

Pounce had been missing since July 31st, when a City Watch Alert had been issued for him. According to the alert, Pounce had texted his girlfriend and threatened to harm himself.

A cause of death has not been released. This is an ongoing investigation
