The Memphis Fire Department says white powder found in an envelope at a local church has been identified as onion salt.
The envelope was found at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on East McLemore. Lt. Wayne Cooke tells Local 24 the powder was found in an envelope that was open. After testing, they determined the powder was onion salt and posed no danger.
Authorities have not said if anyone could face charges for leaving the envelope at the church.
The church is not one of those being used as an early voting location.
