Missing Oxford man’s body found in LaFayette County

OXFORD, Miss. (localmemphis.com)- A missing Oxford man was found dead by local authorities on Saturday.

The Oxford Police Department and Lafayette County Sheriff Department responded to the call of a body found at approximately 2:15 p.m. under the bridge at the Yocona River on HWY 7 South.

The deceased male was identified by family members as 73-year-old Homer Myers.

Myers was reported missing back on August 26th at around 7:00 a.m. from his Twin Gates residence.

Family members told police Myers was last seen August 24th inside his home.

The Lafayette County Coroner’s Office has taken Myer’s body to the state examiner’s in Jackson, MS for an autospy.

Oxford Police say they will release more details following the autospy report.
