Mistrial Declared In the Jessica Chambers Murder Trial

Local News

This has been an eventful confusing and chaotic day in a Batesville, Mississippi court room, to say the least.

At one point, the jury said they had a verdict. It was read, not guilty.

Then the judge polled jurors and 7 of them said guilty.

The judge sent them back at least three times encouraging them to make a decision.

They could not agree on a verdict so the judge declared a mistrial.

Jessica Chambers’ family is heartbroken.

They didn’t say much when they left the courtroom.

You could hear the Tellis family cheering outside the courthouse when the judge declared a mistrial.

We talked to DA John Champion who said he will re-try Quinton Tellis for the capital murder of Jessica Chambers.

It might be next summer depending on schedules but Champion says Tellis will stand trial again.
