Money allocated for memorial for 14 people killed in Gatlinburg fire in 2016

Local News

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Mayors and county executives went to Tennessee’s capitol hill Monday for some much-anticipated help.

They received grants from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, but the money is not for roads. It will be used for special projects like a Gatlinburg memorial.

$850,000 is being given to Sevier County to build a tribute to the 14 people killed in the 2016 fire. Two of those victims were a mother and father from Memphis.
