MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The fight over plans to improve Tom Lee Park has some major Memphis organizations weighing in.
The Memphis River Parks Partnership’s $60 million plans include adding small hills, trees, and structures. Memphis In May organizers say there isn’t enough space for events. The Memphis Restaurant Association, along with associations for hotels and Beale Street, issued a statement supporting park improvements.
If Memphis In May is forced to move it, could have an impact on downtown businesses and, “cause a loss in critical tax revenue from the hotel-motel tax and directly impact the revenue projected to be generated through the downtown tourism development zone.”
