New Helena-West Helena high school, originally scheduled to be open August 12, won’t be ready until December

Local News

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. (localmemphis.com) – The Helena-West Helena School District announced Friday that the new Central High School won’t be ready for the first day of class August 12. In fact, it won’t be open until December.

Two weeks ago, school board members got a tour of the building and were told then that everything except the auditorium would be complete in time for school to start. Now the superintendent says rain delayed construction, and it will have several more months.
