New Memphis Zoo Exhibit Features Giant Lego Sculptures

Local News

The newest exhibit at the Memphis Zoo is using a classic children’s toy to bring nature to life.

The exhibit is called “Nature Connects: Art with Lego Bricks” and will debut Friday at the zoo. Fifteen giant Lego sculptures of sights commonly seen in nature will be located at the west end the zoo. The sculptures contain a combined 460,000 Lego pieces and took more than 4,000 man hours to build.

The goal of the exhibit is to get people to expand their love of the zoo and nature to everyday life.

“We want to make sure that people, when they come and see it, they get inspired,” says Memphis Zoo marketing and communications manager Laura Doty. “Maybe when they go home from the zoo, they see something new that they wouldn’t have seen when they go out to their backyard.”

The Lego exhibit will be on display from March 3rd through July 9th and will be free with your general admission to the Memphis Zoo.
