One Dead After Crash Involving Log Truck And Pickup Carrying Strawberries In Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. (localmemphis.com - The Marshall County Sheriff tells Local 24 one person has died after a log truck and a pickup full of strawberries collided Thursday morning.

It happened about 9:30 a.m. at Highway 302 and Cayce Road. Investigators say the pickup was on Cayce Road, trying to cross 302, when the log truck hit the driver’s side of the pickup. A source on the scene tells Local 24 the log truck driver ran a red light. The pickup driver died at the scene. The driver of the log truck was taken to the hospital. We are told his injuries do not appear life-threatening.

The sheriff says the crash caused the log truck to turn over, scattering logs and strawberries across the road. Westbound 302 is closed as the investigation continues.
