SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - One man faces a drug charge after another man was found shot to death Wednesday not far from Bartlett Elementary School.

It happened about 11:00 a.m. in the 5900 block of Pipers Green Lane in Shelby County, outside the Bartlett city limits. Bartlett Elementary was placed on lockdown for short time as the investigation got underway.

Detectives found Jeremy Williams shot and lying on the ground shot several times. He died at the scene.

Investigators say Denzel Jordan claimed the shooting was self-defense. Detectives got a search warrant and searched Jordan’s home, where they say they found 33 grams of marijuana in a glass jar.

Jordan is now charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. No charges have been filed for the shooting at this time.
