“Operation Grizzly” Leads To Hundreds Of Citations In Memphis

Local News

“Operation Grizzly,” the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s latest initiative to keep the roads safe, has led to nearly 2,000 citations.

“Operation Grizzly” lets troopers enforce traffic rules on the streets of Memphis, freeing MPD officers to focus on violent crime.

Authorities say since October 31st, they’ve issued more than 1,800 citations as part of the operation, including more than 700 seatbelt violations, more than 100 distracted driving citations, and they’ve removed 10 suspected drunk drivers from the road.

We want to be visible out there. We want the public to know there’s going to be extra law enforcement, especially in the city of Memphis. Also on 240, where we’ve had a number of road rage incidents,” says THP Memphis District Captain Jimmie Johnson.

This is the second year for Operation Grizzly.
