Option to have Mississippi license plate without Confederate emblem

Local News

JACKSON, Miss. (localmemphis.com) — Those who want to strip the Confederate emblem from the Mississippi state flag now have an option to replace it on their license plates.

Governor Phil Bryant signed a bill authorizing the Stennis flag design for specialty license plates. The artist says this symbol represents unity.

Mississippi is the last state in the country to bear the Confederate emblem, and legislators are not considering changing it as of now.
