Pilot walks away from fiery plane crash in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A pilot walked away from a fiery crash near the Fayette County Airport.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the pilot had just taken off in a single-engine plane when he had some type of engine trouble and tried to circle back.

The plane crash landed in a field south of the runway, and the landing gear broke off. The plane caught fire after crashing.

The sheriff’s office says the pilot walked away but was taken to the hospital to get checked out.

We are told the FAA and NTSB will investigate what caused the crash.
