(MEMPHIS ANIMAL SERVICES RELEASE) – Memphis Animal Services today announced Game of Homes, which will run from Thursday, April 11, through Sunday, May 19. Adoption fees are reduced to just $15 for anyone who says “Winter is coming,” at the time of adoption.

“Saving lives is all about getting people’s attention,” said Alexis Pugh, MAS director. “With everyone excited about the final season of this show, now is the perfect time for Memphis to play the Game of Homes!”

Each dog and cat room in the building is represented by a different house from the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. For example, MAS’s Cat Room A is now known as Dragonstone, the ancestral castle stronghold of House Targaryen.

Local cosplayers Sarah and Jacob Gulick supported the effort by posing for photos with MAS dogs and cats. Sarah is pictured at left as Daenerys with her dragon/kitten children Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. (These nursing kittens are currently available for foster with their mom Marcia and one other sibling, named Dragon.)

The shelter has named many of its incoming animals after popular people, places, and things from the show, such as Bronn A312654, a 1-year-old, 52-lb gray and white male dog, and Eddard A312627, a 1-year-old, 8-lb black male cat.

Every adoption at Memphis Animal Services includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, heartworm test (and treatment if needed) for dogs, FeLV test for cats, collar and/or leash, and customized ID tag. Adoptions fees are usually $80 for small dogs and puppies and kittens under 5 months and $40 for large adult dogs and adult cats.

Memphis Animal Services, located at 2350 Appling City Cove, is open for adoptions daily from 12-4 p.m. plus until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Dogs at the shelter are also listed on MAS’s website,
