MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris is not going to take any action against his corrections department director.
Current and former employees claimed director Anthony Alexander was violating the county’s residency requirements. A private detective hired by the employees took pictures which he claimed showed Alexander leaving a house in Tipton County.
Commissioners said they wanted the mayor to investigate, and his Chief Administrative Officer says they did.
“At this particular point, we have determined that Director Alexander has met residency requirements for Shelby County and is not violating residence policy. With that said, he continues to have the support of this administration,” said Shelby County CAO Dwan Gilliom.
Mayor Harris sent a letter to commissioners Wednesday morning telling them of his decision.
