Shelby County Schools wants to revoke charter of Southwest Early College High School

Local News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( – Shelby County Schools is recommending revoking the charter of Southwest Early College High School.

The school promised that, with dual enrollment, seniors would graduate with their high school diploma and their associates degree at the same time.

But parents complained a teacher and textbook shortage might mean their kids wouldn’t get their diploma, let alone an associates degree.

The board will vote on the revocation next month, and the school says it will fight efforts to shut it down.
