WEB EXTRA: Social media is helping reunite lost dogs with their owners

Local News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Dog owners are using the power of social media to help find their pets.

Dog owner Brooke Brown was reunited with her pet Westie on Wednesday after searching for two months.

Brown’s dog, Lady, was found about 5 miles away from her Bartlett home.

Brown created a Facebook group called “Let’s Find Lady,” calling on the community for help with searching. She credits it for her dog being found.

It’s an inspiration to another pet owner, Toni Walker.

“It was so, so amazing because it brought me to tears and gave me hope that maybe we can find our Petey,” said Walker.

Walker says her pug, named Petey, went missing three months from today.

“We went door to door in our neighborhood here,” she said. “We posted all over social media. We’ve been in contact with all the vets in our area just to get the word out.”

He was adopted by Walker’s family from Mid-South Pug Rescue back in 2015.

It’s been a struggle for her finding him since he got out of her backyard.

“I look when I go to the pet store, I look just to see is the flyer still there,” said Walker. “Has he been there because as a pet owner you want to bring him to the pet to get his shots and everything.

Petey answers to his name and also to whistles.

If you do see him you can call 901-415-5708.
