Just days after Memphis filed suit against more than 20 drug companies in the opioid epidemic, Shelby County experts are taking action, alerting the community about what can be done to combat the crisis.
A two-day summit got underway Thursday at the University of Memphis. Local addiction doctors discussed current drug trends and treatment.
Tennessee is number two in the country for opioid prescriptions per capita and 14th in opioid deaths.
According to the CEO at Turning Point, $100-billion over the next five years is needed fight the epidemic.
