This after the woman, Carolyn Bryant, who alleged Till wolf whistled at her and roughed her up admitted to an author she lied.
Till, as you might remember, was just 14 years old when he was beaten and brutally murdered for allegedly whistling at Bryant.
Wheeler Parker, Till’s cousin, was with him at the store in Money, Mississippi. And he was in the house when JW Milam and Roy Bryant took Till from his uncle’s home. Parker says he knows what Bryant alleged never happened.
And Patrick Weems with the Emmett Till Interpretive Center agrees justice should be served.
“Should Carolyn Bryant be charged as an accessory to murder?” asked anchor Katina Rankin
“Absolutely, she should be charged as an accessory to murder. Will that lead to closure? I’m not sure,” said Patrick
Weems with the Emmett Till Interpretive Center. “It was not the right way to go about it. If you’re gonna, tell the truth, if you’re going, to be honest, do not tell the 3rd party.
The Till family is ready, willing to have that conversation.”
Weems says the admission was handled wrong. He says Bryant should have had a conversation with Till’s family admitting she lied instead of telling an author.
Meantime a rally is being planned to bring justice in the Emmett Till case. Stay with Local24/CW30 for details on when and where that rally will be held.
