A ribbon cutting this week will mark a new chapter for the historic Universal Life building in Memphis.
The area is being revived through a public-private partnership with the City of Memphis.
The renovated building will be the home to the City Of Memphis Business Development Center.
Universal Life Insurance was founded 1923 by Dr. J.E. Walker. It became the fourth largest African American owned life insurance company in the U.S. with help from co-founders A.W. Willis, Sr., and M.W. Bonner.
The ribbon cutting will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at 480 Dr. Martin Luther King Avenue.
