MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Three people are charged after shots were fired during a fight on Beale Street early Monday morning.
Police say about 4:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Beale Street, Joseph Beadle, Sierra Howell, and Cassandra Arnold attacked a man. Police say Beadle punched and kicked the victim, and then Howell and Arnold surrounded the victim and joined in. Police say the victim, “feeling in fear of serious bodily injury defended himself” by punching Howell when she “ran toward (him) in an aggressive manner.”
According to police records, Howell then retreated several feet away, and took a gun out of her purse. They say she then walked toward the victim, aiming the gun at him. Police say the victim began backing away, and Beadle took the gun from Howell’s hand, and fired two shots at the victim as he ran from the scene. The victim was not hit, but the bullets hit the passenger door of a car at the corner of B.B. King and Beale Street. The driver was okay.
Police say as the three suspects were running from the scene, Arnold took the gun and “intentionally hid the gun behind a mailbox at 200 Beale Street.”
Responding officers were able to take Beadle, Howell, and Arnold into custody. They recovered the gun, and say surveillance video corroborated the victim’s statement about what happened.
Beadle is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and unlawful carrying of possession of a weapon. Howell is charged with aggravated assault. Arnold is charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence.
