MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A big check from the state will help bring books to the bluff city. Tennessee’s Secretary of State Tre Hargett presented Memphis libraries with $100,000 check Wednesday.
The grant from the Tennessee State Library and Archives will help the city expand its book collections.
Hargett said you can never go wrong learning how to read more, and read better.
“We are trying to invest in the great future of our state. The boys and girls we read to today, are our future teachers, our future leaders, on the local state and federal level. They are our doctors, our homemakers. We have to prepare them to lead,” said Hargett.
