She worked in her parents restaurant. Joy Touliatos says her mother and father came to this county to find a better life. Now, she says, she wants to help everybody in Shelby County. Touliatos is now the second Republican to officially announce she is running for Shelby County Mayor in 2018.
Touliatos is currently the Shelby County Juvenile Court Clerk. She says crime is a huge issue in this county, and its one that she says needs to be addressed.
“We will fight crime and support our Sheriffs Deputies,” she said, “…to make sure everyone has the funding with our deputies, our prosecutors, our firefighters and our paramedics, making sure they have the funding they need to continue their jobs.”
Touliatos says she can expand crime fighting while cutting property taxes by cutting waste from Shelby County government.
The only other person who has officially said he is running for Shelby County Mayor is Shelby County Commissioner Terry Roland. Since Roland and Touliatos are both Republicans, it means there will be a fight in next year’s primary.
