It’s been three months since Steve Guidry was killed at his son’s Castalia Heights business and Memphis Police say they don’t have a lead as to who did it.
According to Major Lambert Ross only one call has come into Crimestoppers about a blue Chevy Malibu involved.
“There’s not words for it,” said Steve’s son Cory Guidry.
Cory cannot describe what life has been like since his father was shot and killed during a robbery.
Steve was 67 years old with 2 sons, 5 grandkids and 1 great grand kid.
“Fun loving. Give you the shirt off his back. He’d help anybody. Favorite thing loved to do was hunt,” said Cory when asked about the kind of man his father was.
MPD said on November 18, 2017 three men went to Cory’s “Always On Commercial Services” business, that’s on East Person Avenue by Cooper Street in the Castalia Heights neighborhood.
They said they needed help so Cory followed them.
Cory said at first there was nothing unusual about it, that was not uncommon for people to walk in and ask for help.
“He says shortly after they left they started driving erratically to the point where they were running red lights. He lost them,” said Ross.
“Once he pulled off ran and left me I already knew in my head that something was bad because I was calling my dad’s cell phone and was getting no answer,” said Cory.
Police say this dark blue Chevy Malibu or Impala caught on surveillance video led Cory away. You can see Cory’s work van following them over train tracks.
Cory told Local Memphis it was an Impala with the left tail light out.
Other surveillance video could reveal who killed Steve, but the hard drive was damaged in the shooting.
Cory is frustrated with investigators and with the fact no one seems to be calling in tips to find his dad’s killer.
He hopes someone will care enough to call police.
“It’s ridiculous. I don’t have any other words. You see people call in on other stuff all the time,” said Cory.
Police said there was also a gold or tan SUV parked in the neighborhood when this happened.
If you know anything that can help police find Steve Guidry’s killer you can leave an anonymous tip with Crimestoppers at 528-CASH.
