You may enjoy Independence Day fireworks, but for animals, this time of year is scary.
First, don’t bring your dog to fireworks displays. They’re loud and crowded and can frighten or disorient your pet.
If your dog or cat is anxious in your home, don’t be surprised if you see heavy panting, pacing, lack of interest in food, hiding, or wanting to be extra close to you.
Turning on the TV or the radio can help drown out the noise. Also, putting pets in their carriers could make them feel more secure. Vets say some dogs need medication to help keep them calm.
