Dozens of Germantown residents packed Houston High School for the city of Germantown Candidate Forum.

The forum was hosted by the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce and Local 24 News Managing Editor and Weeknight anchor, Richard Ransom served as the event’s moderator.

The candidates for Mayor are John Barzizza and Mike Palazzolo, who is running for re-election.

Some of the topics discussed during the forum include free standing apartments in Germantown, education, overcrowded schools and how to keep Germantown competitive economically.

“We’ve doubled our sales tax revenues. One of our priorities is to attract competitive retailers in Germantown a prime example of that is Trader Joes,” said Mike Palazzolo, Germantown Mayor running for re-election.

The candidates also talked about why they are running for office and their leadership style.

“My vision is for the people and not for the developers,” said John Barzizza, Germantown Mayoral Candidate.
