WEB EXTRA: MPD Director says department is back on normal staffing following last week’s violence

Local News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)  Memphis Police Director Mike Rallings says MPD is back at normal staffing levels for the first time since last week’s deadly U.S. Marshal-involved shooting and violent aftermath in Frayser.

MPD went to “alert level 3” following Wednesday night’s shooting death of Brandon Webber and the violence after. Nearly three dozen officers were injured, and several law enforcement vehicles vandalized, that night. MPD said alert level 3 meant officers’ days off were canceled and two officers were assigned to each car.

Tuesday, Dir. Rallings told Local 24 News he met with Webber’s parents and thanked them for their calls for peace.
