MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The 2019 Freedom Award hosted by the National Civil Rights Museum will honor three very special individuals October 30 for their contributions to civil and human rights.
This year’s honorees are Hafsat Abiola, a Nigerian human and civil rights activist; Gloria Steinem, a writer and feminist activist; and John Legend, a leading recording artist who uses his influence to promote social justice and equality.
NCRM Chief Marketing & External Affairs Officer Faith Morris says tickets to the general public went on sale Thursday, and the museum is already seeing a spike in interest in this year’s event.
“We really also want to make sure that individuals know, we get the question all the time, can we come? Absolutely you can come,” says Morris. For those interested in tickets to the event, please click here.
