OXFORD, Miss. (localmemphis.com) – An Oxford police officer charged with murder in the death of a mother of four appeared in court Wednesday.
Oxford officer Matthew Kinne is charged with murder in the death of 32-year-old Dominique Clayton. She was found dead Sunday afternoon in her home in the 1000 block of Suncrest Street in Oxford.
Oxford Police Chief Jeff McCutchen says Kinne was involved with Clayton. After court Wednesday, the victim’s family said they don’t think Kinne should get bond when a bond hearing happens. Interim Chief McCutchen said he also doesn’t support bond, saying “We stand with the Clayton family.”
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and specials agents are assisting in the case at the request of the Oxford Police Department.
Funeral arrangements for the victim are expected to be announced soon.
Kinne has been with Oxford police for four years.
