MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Pink Palace is putting out a call, asking die-hard Tigers fans to participate in a new exhibit called Tiger Hoops: 100 Years of Memphis Basketball.
The special exhibit will feature a mural entirely made up of fan-submitted vintage Tigers basketball shirts.
July 28th from noon to 4:00 p.m., fans can bring in their vintage Tigers shirts to the Pink Palace Museum and will be asked to share the connection, history, or a memory of why that shirt is special to them.
Collections Developer Jestein Gibson says the idea came to them in a meeting while sharing stories of old Tigers shirts.
“This is a way to bring the community in and kind of say ‘hey, we’re all united by the Memphis Tigers and let’s look at our shared history together’,” says Gibson.
If a fan’s shirt is selected, it will be featured in the mural, as well as photographed and highlighted on the website, www.tigerhoops100years.com.
In addition, fans will receive a free pass to the museum if their shirt is selected.
The event is set to open March 7th, 2020, and fear not fans, you will get your shirts back when the exhibit closes October 4th, 2020.
