On July 4, 2019, the High Point Terrace neighborhood held its 70th annual Independence Day parade which included numerous patriotic festivities.
For many homeowners, the highlight of the day is the “Best Lawn” competition where residents decorate their lawns in a patriotic theme.
For the past two years now, Taylor Pfohl, along with help from friends and family, took home the award for best lawn with his trifecta design which incorporates the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Tigers, and the American flag.
Pfohl says he and a friend began working on the lawn the day before at 7:30 am, and it took the entirety of the day to complete.
“Somehow it worked out. It looks great. We didn’t use any stencils. People asked did y’all use any stencils? We were like nah man, we did this straight up by eye,” says Pfohl.
Pfohl says he plans on going for the three-peat next year but didn’t reveal if he has a design in mind yet.
Eager lawn art fans will just have to wait and see come the 4th of July in 2020.
