MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis Police continue to investigate a shooting on I-240. The shooting injured one person Tuesday night.

Police responded to the scene at 9:23 p.m. on I-240 eastbound near the Millbranch exit. Three people were in the SUV that was hit.

According to a police report obtained by Local 24 News, the driver was traveling in the middle lane when he heard a loud pop.  He originally thought his Rav4 was hit by a rock or that he blew a tire.

After the loud noise a female passenger in the backseat complained she had shoulder pain. The driver pulled over and noticed the trunk of his vehicle had been shot.

I-240 East was shut down for roughly an hour as investigators tried locating evidence. However, they were unsuccessful. A bullet was found lodged in the truck and was photographed.

Another woman in the vehicle was taken to Regional one. The nature of her injuries, if any, are unknown.

If you have information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
