MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Planned Parenthood in Memphis took a stand Thursday with a message for Tennessee lawmakers. They’re taking aim at the six-week abortion ban proposal with the “Bans Off My Body” campaign.
Similar laws have been passed in surrounding states but stalled in the Tennessee legislature. Critics are urging the general assembly to take action during a hearing set for next week.
“Make no mistake. A six-week abortion ban is unpopular. It’s dangerous for Tennessee women, and it’s unconstitutional. We urge the senate to drop this legislation,” said Ashley Cofield, CEO of Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis.
The hearing is expected to begin Monday.
