On Newsfeed Now for March 13 we got the conversation started with a death penalty debate. In Louisiana it’s been nine years since an inmate has been put to death, but the state’s attorney general is now pushing lawmakers to bring back capital punishment. WVLA’s Harrison Golden tells us about family members of crime victims who’ve been asking “where is justice?”

At 5:30 into the show we switched our focus to what’s been a deadly flu season in many states. A Louisiana family is speaking out after losing two loved ones in their 30’s to the flu within one week of each other. KLFY’s Dalfred Jones told us the victims had not gotten a flu shot and that has the family reminding everyone how important it is to get the vaccination.

Up next at the 10 minute mark we shared an AMAZING story of survival. An Arkansas man became trapped under water when his tractor trailer rig went off the road and flipped. He couldn’t move but he could pray. WATN’s Rebecca Butcher told us about the medical care he needed after mud got into his lungs before he could be rescued.

Our final report was also an inspiring one at 13:30 into the program. Overcoming obstacles can be tough for anyone and it was for a former homeless man who wanted to go to college. But he stayed positive despite the ups and downs and accomplished his dream by earning a psychology degree. KARK’s Mallory Brooks introduced us to Demetrious Jordan, whose attitude and determination brought him success.
